Broken Bones.......

Well as you all know I had a fab nigh at the South East Eventers League Ball, where I picked up a couple of prizes, having to drive home that evening I cannot even blame the next day on ‘Drunken injury!’ I think next year I might hibernate through November…..this is the fourth year in a row I have been injured, luckily it is my down period so the horses were able to have a week being lunged, turned out and on the walker. Silly accident, I was in corridor of the yard with a horse, another horse (not one of mine!!) escaped and came through the yard very fast, I tried to be a super hero and even though wearing correct foot wear I managed to take the skin off my toes, the top of my foot and sustained a break!! Bad day at the office…….

Not to be left out, my fabulous PA Sarah (Wesley’s owner) who does EVERYTHING for me decided to go one better and whilst at home riding her horse, another horse shot back and double barrelled her in the leg, snapping her tibia! A week in hospital, two operations and 16 weeks in plaster now looms. On the plus side, luckily it was her that got kicked and not her horse (Says her hubby), for me I can give her more work to do as she is laying in bed bored and for her, ‘No Winter Mucking Out, means no Chilblains or cracked hands!’

Had a really enjoyable day hunting the gorgeous Richmond Sport Horses ‘Ludino’ my only sulky comment is ‘I didn’t get to do hedge hopping’ – he is a stunning horse and could jump hedges like no other, he has now been sold and I look forward to seeing him out hedge hopping with his new owner.

Not so much as ‘a down period’ this year, I have been out at Royal Leisure showjumping a couple of times and I was pleased with Mavis and Alex, both performing well and jumping double clears.

I have also been to dressage and combined training partnering Richmond Sport Horses Diba, a fantastic 5 year old – Winning both!

I taught back at Golden Cross last week, a sell out seven hours of back to back teaching it was fantastic to see so many of my Sussex friends and meet a few new faces – a brilliant time was had by all, no falls and lots of smiles!

Will do an update before Christmas, with news on a new sponsor, information on some horses I have for Sale and my christmas plans…..Now back to riding….xxx
