Great to be out eventing with four horses over two days at an event that is local to me, anything less than an hours drive away is pure luxury.
Unfortunately Lucky Turn, (Wesley) who usually always does an impressive test was somewhat distracted by the show jumping warm up that he could hear but not actually clearly see, so for the first time ever I experienced a somewhat wild test from him to score 32.5 , he showjumped well and was fantastic cross country to add just 0.8 time penalties to his score. He finished 11th but I was somewhat disappointed with him.
NT was doing his first BE100 and he did a good test, unfortunately a cost two fences down took us out the placings. He felt great and has really grown up over the winter and I am confident that he will have his day in the near future.
Bruce did a good dressage test in the Novice Section on Sunday, he has lovely paces and great carriage, I really feel that he will one day do a fantastic test in higher levels and he could be the horse to put me into a competitive position as he goes up through the ranks. He showjumped brilliantly and produced a lovely clear. Unfortunately a little blip xc incurred us 20 penalties when he did lock on to a skinny - he was distracted by the xc warm up. A lesson learnt and we are looking forward to our next run at Chilham.
Sid and I were doing the Intermediate and he did a pleasing test to score 35.9, this is his weakest phase as he suffers from 'Dressage judges horn Nerves' - he warms up fantastically but can just go a bit tense in the arena. An unlucky pole in the sj and 2.8 time penalties gave us a respectable 7th place.
