Tweseldown 7th June 2014

Sam Penn

Tweseldown horse trials with two horses, Bruce to compete in the Novice and Sid in the Intermediate.

Bruce is a horse that I really rate and I am enjoying having the ride back on him, this was our fourth Novice together and I really feel we are beginning to work together. A good dressage and a double clear gave us a creditable 5th place. His next event will be Eridge NRF and then we will do the CIC* at Brightling.

Sid was fantastic, he did his best dressage , all the dressage demons seem to of left us on this particular occasion and he scored a brilliant score of 27.3, he showjumped brilliantly and we went to the start box in the lead. Cross Country is his strong point, I always rave about the great ride he gives me and how easy it feels, and today was no different. He was giving me a fantastic ride........until something happened at the water and we both went down and under! Sid didn't deserve that but unfortunately these things happen. The fence was removed after my fall as it had already caused others to be submerged. Unfortunately it was too late for us and with the vet in attendance, the help of stewards, fence judges and officials we patched Sid up and got him home. With far too many staples, a lot of bruising Sid was feeling very sorry for himself, I wasn't feeling much better and had a few bruises and scrapes to show for it!

We will let him heal and let nature take its course and in the mean time Sid will get lots of carrots and cuddles.
