28th June Eridge Country Fair

Sam Penn

Horses are great levellers........I had five horses entered for Eridge but only took three, Nt still has a bit of swelling after his fall at Berkshire College, Sid is still off work, though he is looking lots better and Wesley was meant to be making his showing debut at Hickstead but had to be withdrawn as he had a rash and a skin irritation. I am certainly getting lots of 'jobs' done around the yard as I have three less to ride this week!

On the lorry I had Sorrel competing in the BE90 Open, Flight in the BE100 and Bruce in the NRF - three separate dressage tests to remember, three different show jumping courses and three separate cross country courses going in different directions! Sat Nav might be required.....

Sorrel was much improved and was certainly less tense in the dressage and scored 24.5 with a double clear inside the time to set us up well for the rest of the day by winning his section! Clever pony.

Flight was competing in his second BE100 and did a nice test. Another double clear left us finishing the day on his dressage score of 34.0 and with a 5th place rosette.

Bruce did a lovely test, but unfortunately a pole sj and some time penalties cross country left us in 8th place.

All three ponies went home with a rosette and we went home with smiles on our faces. A very enjoyable day.
